Trapped in vehicle with serious injuries

VEREENIGING. – A man, believed to be in his 30s was left seriously injured early this morning, when his bakkie crashed into a tree in Herby Taylor Street, Unitas Park.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at 02:03 to find the bakkie off the road against a tree. The driver of the vehicle was found trapped inside.

Vereeniging Fire Services had to use specialised rescue equipment to free the man from the vehicle.

Once freed, medics assessed the man and found that he had sustained numerous injuries to his lower extremities and was in a serious condition.

He was treated for his injuries and was provided with pain-relief medication before he was transported to Mediclinic Emfuleni for treatment.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
