Rand Water partners with municipalities
SEDIBENG.- The Rand Water Foundation (RWF) recently announced its partnership with the Emfuleni and Midvaal Local Municipalities to improve water treatment plants and wastewater treatment plants.
The RWF manages Rand Water’s Social Investment resources.
The RWF’s operational and maintenance support is designed to provide solutions to challenges encountered by the municipalities.
Spokesperson Justice Mohale said, “Through its Internship Programme, the RWF has assigned a number of interns to assess the operations and maintenance of sewage treatment facilities. The interns have made recommendations that guaranteed compliance with the effluent standards. The entire exercise is aimed at improving the living conditions of communities by supporting municipalities to effectively provide water and sanitation services.”
According to Mohale, the partnership with municipalities also contributes towards the growth of Rand Water’s bulk water supply to municipalities. “The RWF’s efforts to work with municipalities also indicates supports for the Department of Human Settlement, Water & Sanitation in its drive to ensure all South Africans have access to clean water and safe sanitation. The collaboration with municipalities has created job opportunities for some interns as they were absorbed by the municipalities after they have successfully completed their training.”
