Speaking to Vaalweekblad, Msibi said no one was injured during the robbery.
“Police in Vanderbijlpark are investigating an attempted cash-in-transit heist. This is after a cash van was attacked by a group of armed suspects on Frikkie Meyer Boulevard near Boipatong,” she said.

“Initial reports indicate that the group of suspects were traveling in a grey Mercedes-Benz when they intercepted the cash van until it lost control. About nine suspects approached it and demanded firearms from the crew.
“The armed gang then demanded the security guards to opened the back of the cash van where money is stored. The van couldn’t be opened because the crew [guards] had already reported the ambush with their control room,” she added.
Msibi said police have since launched a manhunt for the gunmen.
