‘Foot soldiers’ in the war against GBV
The Department of Community Safety has sent in reenforcements in the war against gender-based violence (GBV)
MEYERTON. – The acting Station Commander of Meyerton SAPS, Lt Col Johan De Winnaar on 6 May welcomed members of the GBV brigades.
The teams are led by team leader Charmaine Leotlela from the Department of Community Safety.
The department is adding foot soldiers on the ground to help in the fight against GBV related crimes.
GBV brigade members will be partnering with the Meyerton Police station to enhance gender based violence awareness campaigns within the Meyerton policing area.
De Winnaar, in his welcoming address, said that he is pleased to have an energetic team that is joining hands in the fight against crime.
“GBV brigade members are the force multiplier on the ground to help curb GBV,” de Winnaar said.
He further called on the members to exercise a high level of discipline in executing their duties, acting professionally, honestly, and being dedicated.
Lastly, De Winnaar assured the team that they have full support from the station.
“Our main goal is to serve the people of Meyerton with pride”, said De Winnaar.
