Six teenage boys are behind bars following the murder of a 25-year-old man

ZAMDELA. – Six teens were arrested for murder on Sunday in Zamdela following the killing of a 25-year-old male.

According to the Fezile Dabi District police spokesperson, Sergeant Josephine Rani, the boys aged between 16 and 19 assaulted the victim and left him for dead.

Following the brutal incident, the sextet fled the scene of crime and was later arrested in a shack at Somerspost.

In a statement, Rani comprehended details of the murder case opened at their Zamdela police station.

“On Sunday, May 12 at about 00:30, the Zamdela police received a complaint about an unknown male who was assaulted and left lying on the ground at a certain house in Somerspost,” she said.

“Police proceeded to the identified house where the incident happened, and on arrival, they found a 25-year-old male lying on the ground motionless. The deceased sustained head injuries and was declared dead by the emergency services”.

Rani said following the declaration and investigation, there were no leads on the suspects, however thorough investigation of the police led to an arrest.

“Our officers conducted their investigation which ended up with a tip-off on the suspects’ whereabouts. Officers followed up the information, and all six suspects were found at a shack in Somerspost and arrested,” she said.

While suspects appeared before the Sasolburg Magistrate Court on Tuesday, May 14, information on their first appearance outcomes remains unknown.
