Arcellor Mittal copper seized from suspects

An illegal immigrant is one of the two suspects that were arrested.

SEBOKENG.- An illegal immigrant is one of the two suspects that were arrested after they were found in possession of suspected stolen property in Sebokeng yesterday (Tuesday).

According to Sebokeng police spokesperson, Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane, the Sedibeng Essential Infrastructure Task Team were performing patrol duties when they spotted a suspicious vehicle in Moshoeshoe Street. The members asked the driver to stop, and upon observation they found a copper cable that the occupants could not account for. There were also cutting tools found in the possession of the occupants.

Mokhachane adds, “The Task Team members further received a call and accompanied the alleged suspects to Sebokeng SAPS where they met with Arcellor Mittal staff who identified the copper as their property. They further confirmed that a case docket of tampering with essential infrastructure was opened on the same day at Vanderbijlpark SAPS.”
