Trail runners to head for the hills

Run on the wild side.

The hills will come alive on Saturday, November 30 when the Vaal Athletic Club’s trail running division, The Klipspringers, hosts the third annual The Vaal Has Hills Trail Run.

The event will take place at the Klipskuur on Rietfontein Farm near Heidelberg.

This year’s event will feature races over 25km, 13km and 7.5km. These races will start at 05:30, 06:00 and 06:15 respectively.

Number collection takes place from 04:30 on the morning of the race.

As the name suggests, this will be a challenging and hilly trail run.

To avoid plastic pollution and keep the venue clean, the race will be a self-supported trail run, and hydration packs (CamelBaks) are therefore essential.

Prior to the 25km event, the race organisers will conduct a compulsory gear check to ensure everyone is sufficiently geared up.

Prize money will be awarded to the first three male and female competitors who finish the 25km race.
