Foetus found in blocked drain in Vanderbijlpark
Shock as residents of C.E 3 discover a foetus in a blocked sewer drain.
VANDERBIJLPARK – A shocking discovery left a small community of Vanderbijlpark, C.E 3 reeling.
This comes after a foetus was found in a blocked sewer drainage along Westinghouse Boulevard on Thursday, November 22.
For three weeks now, residents and motorists have been dealing with sewage flooding the streets as the municipality failed to address complaints about the overflowing drainage system.
The situation took a disturbing turn when a couple driving past the murky waters made the discovery of a tiny naked body floating in faeces.
After jumping out of their vehicle, led by curiosity, they were left disturbed and called nearby residents.
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, a resident who asked not to be named said, “We’ve have tried to report the oozing sewer with the municipality with no response. Today we were called by passing motorists who had discovered a baby on our driveway. This is a picture one can’t unsee,” said the resident.
Vanderbijlpark police and a local forensic pathologist were dispatched to the scene and immediately launched an investigation to try to solve the mystery encounter.
While a police spokesman has yet to confirm if a charge of concealment of birth will be filed, sources close to the investigation believe foul play may be involved.
This is a developing story, and Ster will provide updates as new information comes to light.
