BOIPATONG.- The Itireleng Parks Team’s story is touching.
A group of men and women wake up every morning to clean the Boipatong township. This project started during the nationwide lockdown when this dedicated group decided to start this project to clean up the entire area. To make it worse, they don’t get paid or rewarded for doing this, they volunteer.
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Itireleng Parks Team’s founder Parks Mofokeng said they are nearing Christmas with nothing because they don’t get paid to clean the area. He made a humble plea to Boipatong businesses and companies to donate groceries for the group.
Mofokeng said everyone will be getting bonuses in December, but unfortunately, it will not be the case with them because they are just volunteering. He said many people think they get paid or rewarded for cleaning the township but that this is not the case.
He told Sedibeng Ster that they wake up in the morning like everyone else and go to work, but they don’t get paid.
“We leave our homes at 7:00 in the morning and return in the afternoon. Sedibeng Ster can testify to this because the newspaper has written a series of articles about us. When we started some companies and individuals would come to donate tools and food parcels, especially during COVID. Cape Gate is one of the companies that has been helpful to the Itireleng Parks Team,” said Mofokeng.
