Three suspects arrested after robbing a liquor store

A shootout ensued between the suspects and the police moments after the robbery. 

SEBOKENG.- Police arrested three suspects and recovered two firearms after they robbed a liquor store on Wednesday, December 11.

This comes after police received information about a gang that was planning to commit an armed robbery at a liquor store in Sebokeng Plaza.

“A tactical and take-down operation was launched by members of the SAPS Crime Intelligence in conjunction with members of the Sedibeng Tactical Response team, Sedibeng K9, the Benoni Tactical Response team, BAS Specialised Operations and Tracker Connect,” police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo said.

After the suspects committed the robbery, they were accosted by law enforcement officers on their way to the getaway vehicle.

A shootout between the operational team and the suspects ensued.

According to Masondo one suspect was shot and injured. “The other two suspects were arrested. Two firearms were recovered from the suspects.”

Police are on the lookout for suspects who escaped from the crime scene.
