SHARPEVILLE. – A shocking discovery of the decomposing body of Prudence Nkosi (36) at a block of flats in Rooisteen has left co-tenants shaken and the community reeling in shock.

It is alleged that Nkosi’s life was taken by her boyfriend, Thabang Senyenyane, who is said to have subsequently fled to his home in Qwa-Qwa in the Free State where he took his own life.

The disturbing scene unfolded on Tuesday morning when the landlord Lovey Ramagaga was alerted by a colleague of the boyfriend that he had passed away.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Ramagaga said when he heard the bad news, he was prompted to take the spare key to Nkosi’s room as she had not been seen since Sunday.

“When I opened the room where Nkosi stays, I was met with a terrible smell. I investigated further and found her body in the bathroom. I was immediately able to see that she was no more as her body was beginning to decompose.”

Ramagaga was shocked at how the events unfolded. He said that he found out two months ago that the two were in a relationship.

“Thabang is the one who alerted me of their relationship two months ago. He said he had moved into my block of flats as he was dating one of the ladies. Looking at them as a couple, they seemed fine. I could never have imagined that something like this would happen

Talking about Nkosi, Ramagaga described her as quiet, kind, and loving.

“This is a great loss to us, people who lived with her. I believe that it is a greater loss to her family. She did not deserve to die like this.”

Ramagaga said such incidents put men into disrepute. “It’s embarrassing that some men choose to take the lives of their partners, making many women feel unsafe around men.”

Outraged members of the community on the scene said this was not the first time Senyenyane had been accused of killing someone and Nkosi knew this.

Police spokesperson Captain Teboho Lephoto confirms that an inquest case docket has been launched for investigation.

“While investigating, police in Sharpeville tried to locate the partner of the deceased through police authorities at Free-State where they learned that the man they were looking for had also died. A similar case of an inquest is being investigated by the Free State Police. The body of the woman has been taken to Sebokeng mortuary.”
