Eskom has warned that there is a high risk of loadshedding.

In a statement, the electricity public utility emphasised that it had managed to maintain an uninterrupted electricity for 10 months.

Eskom said this was largely due to its “Generation Recovery Plan”.

Eskom said in the statement: “This is a potentially temporary setback. Loadshedding is largely behind us due to the structural improvements in our generation fleet. However, over the past seven days, we have experienced several breakdowns that require extended repair times. This has necessitated the use of all our emergency services, which now needs to be replenished.”

Eskom said it is closely monitoring the status of the current emergency in reserves.

According to Eskom Group Chief Executive, Dan Marokane, loadshedding up to Stage 4 may be implemented over the weekend.
