Kopanong Hospital water woes continue

Several patients contacted Sedibeng Ster, saying the hospital has been without running water for numerous days.

VEREENIGING. – Patients admitted at Kopanong Hospital say they are ready to pack their bags and leave. This is due to the water crisis at the hospital.

Several patients contacted Sedibeng Ster, saying the hospital has been without running water for numerous days. According to patients, the situation has now become unbearable.

In a statement released on January 15, the Gauteng Department of Health (GDoH) alerted the public of a water crisis at the Kopanong Hospital.

The department disclosed that some of the services at the hospital had been impacted due to water supply interruptions.

The department revealed that areas affected by water interruptions include the theatre, maternity ward, antenatal clinic, medical and orthopaedic wards.

“However, the ground floor offering services including OPD, food service, and laundry as well as the TB wards and mortuary is not affected by the water shortage.”

The department assures members of the public that the matter is being attended to, citing that a contractor is on-site.

“We would like to apologise to the patients and public for the inconvenience.”

Sedibeng Ster has sent an inquiry to the GDoH about the situation but is still waiting for a response.
