Vaal Marathon set to celebrate 50th edition

The 50th edition of the Vaal Marathon is set to take place on Sunday.

VEREENIGING – More than 3 000 athletes are expected at the 50th Vaal Marathon set to take place at the Dick Fourie Stadium in Three Rivers on Sunday, February 23.

This milestone marks the 50th edition of the marathon, which has been hosted and organised by the Vaal Athletic Club since 1974.

Setup for this event will take place from 04:00 and athletes should be finished at about 12:00.

Motorists are advised to plan their routes accordingly to accommodate the marathon’s course.

The event will feature the popular 42.2km marathon, a flat and fast Comrades and Two Oceans qualifier, as well as a 21.1km half marathon, a 10km race, and a 5km fun run.

Entries for the event close on Wednesday, February 19 or once the entry cap has been reached.

Entries for the 5km and 10km races have already been sold out.
