Family Fun Day in Vanderbijlpark for a good cause

Kollegepark’s Family Fun Day on June 7 promises fun for the whole family while raising funds for a local charity.

VANDERBIJLPARK – Laerskool Kollegepark  is set to host a vibrant Family Fun Day this Saturday, June 7, at 77 General Froneman Street.

The event kicks off at 09:30 and runs until 15:00, with a full programme aimed at raising funds for the Girls and Guys charity.

Visitors can look forward to a fun run, market stalls, a lively potjiekos competition, and the popular Mr & Miss Dream Come True pageant for boys and girls in junior (7–12) and senior (13+) categories.

A top prize is up for grabs in the potjiekos contest: a weekend stay for two at Dockside Lodge and Tented Camp (Vaal Marina), valued at R1 500.

The event supports A Girl and Guy’s Dream Come True, a charity that helps underprivileged matric learners attend their farewells in style.

Founded in 2010, the initiative has transformed the lives of over 500 matriculants.

In 2024 alone, 12 students from Mamello informal settlement were given a full farewell experience—eight of whom secured insurance learnerships, with others placed at the Hotel School and SAPS.

“We make dreams come true and help change lives long after the ball,” says organiser Louise Wood.
