Storm leaves parts of the Vaal in the dark

Tuesday’s storm caused downed power lines, leaving several areas without power

SEDIBENG – Following a storm in the Vaal, several areas are left with damaged power lines, resulting in power outages.

In a statement on Wednesday, Eskom reported that the power lines were damaged following a storm in the Vaal area, causing them to hang low.

“A truck later drove into one of the lines, resulting in damage to the windscreen of the truck. Fortunately, no injuries were sustained as the line had already been isolated. Our teams are currently repairing the damaged infrastructure, and we anticipate completing all work and restoring supply to the affected areas by 20:00.”

The power utility said the following areas are affected:

De Deur

Emfuleni Local Municipality

Midvaal Municipality

Orkeville

Rust-Ter-Vaal.
