  • Saturdays and public holidays: 07:30 – 15:00

MIDVAAL – The Walkerville Landfill Site has been temporarily closed after persistent heavy rains made the facility inaccessible, Midvaal Local Municipality announced in a public notice posted on its official Facebook page on Wednesday, 24 December 2025.

According to the municipality, the closure will remain in effect until further notice. Residents are advised to make alternative arrangements for waste disposal during this period.

Regular-sized loads of general waste and garden refuse may be taken to the Galloway or Blackwood transfer stations. Large quantities of general waste and garden refuse must be transported to the Vaal Marina Landfill Site.

The municipality added that only building rubble may be offloaded at the open space at the entrance to the Walkerville Landfill Site.

Midvaal Local Municipality apologised for the inconvenience caused and encouraged residents to report any service-related concerns via its call centre on 087 106 2471 or the toll-free number 080 228 8275. Complaints can also be submitted via email at Complaints@midvaal.gov.za, through the My Midvaal App, or via WhatsApp on 081 876 0408.
