Nedbank Running Club celebrates top athletes of 2025
Outstanding performances and dedication were celebrated across all disciplines at Nedbank Running Club’s 2025 awards.
VANDERBIJLPARK – The Nedbank Running Club held its Annual Awards Function for 2025 on 15 January, recognising outstanding performances across all disciplines.
On the night, 318 certificates, 73 medals, and 21 Honorary Award medals were presented to club members.
One of the club’s top athletes, Chris van Niekerk, represented South Africa at both the World Indoor and World Senior Track & Field Championships.

He was named Male Track & Field Athlete of the Year, Track & Field Athlete of the Year, and Sports Person of the Year, the club’s highest honour.
Chris was unable to attend the function, as he had returned to the USA for his studies.
Other award winners included:
- Miané and Emma de Clercq – Sub-Youth Track & Field winners
- Helene van Rooyen – Female and overall Road Running Athlete of the Year
- Sampie Mokgatla – Male Road Running Athlete of the Year
- Miané de Clercq – Junior Road Running Athlete of the Year
- Sibusiso Ndhlela – Masters Track & Field Athlete of the Year
- Selna van As – Female and overall Cross Country Athlete of the Year
- Franna van der Westhuizen – Male Cross Country Athlete of the Year
- Paulus Mofokeng – Most Loyal Supporter at Time Trials of the Year
- Tracey Olivier – Management Support of the Year
- Emma de Clercq – Personality of the Year
- Johan Strydom – Club Person of the Year
The event celebrated the achievements and dedication of the club’s athletes and supporters, marking another successful year in the club’s history.
