VAALPARK. – Jonathan Broomhead finished 15 under par yesterday at the Heron Banks Golf Club to be crowned as the 2023 champion of the Free State Alec Levine Open.

The youngster from the Durban Country Club is living proof that consistency pays dividends with rounds of -4, -3, -4, and -4 to win the 72-strokeplay by three strokes. Altin van der Merwe (Bellville Golf Club: -12) and Warwick Purchase (Benoni Country Club: -11) gave him a run for his money.

Altin brought himself back into contention by playing a sublime third round (-8), but that was still not enough to beat the consistency of Jonathan.
