Battle of the Giants All Styles Dance Sport Festival at Sun City

The prestigious Battle of the Giants All Styles Dance Sport Festival is a spectacle not to be missed

It’s time for the “BATTLES” to begin.  One of South Africa’s largest and most respected all-styles dance competitions, the prestigious Battle of the Giants All Styles Dance Sport Festival, (commonly known as BOTG) returns to Sun City from 20 to 23 April 2023.

This internationally recognized event has been in existence for more than 30 years and is hosted at the world-renowned; Sun City Superbowl. Bev Wood, is the President of the South African Body of Dance (SABOD), the organizer of this event, as well as being the representative for the International Dance Organization in South Africa.

This year is going to be very exciting as there are a whole list of new styles being introduced, including Afro Styles of Pantsula, Sbujwa, Afro crews and Tap battles.  There will also be additional “Achiever” prizes available at this year’s festival.

Other dance styles to look out for are the Performing Arts of Ballet, Modern, Tap, Lyrical, Jazz, Disco Dance, Street Dance, Hip Hop, Show Dance, Slow Dance, Freestyle, Disco Dance, Popping, Break Dance, Latin and Ballroom, and much more.

Our athletes competing in the world circuit sections have an opportunity to compete in the qualifier events, working towards representing their country at the relevant international Dance Organization’s World Championships.

Our judges that will be on our esteemed panel of judges are Debbie Rakusin, Tebogo Kgobokoe, Tina D’Artnall, Linda Dedekind, Hayley Hammond-Lamont, Sipho Didiza, Sandile Zulu, Lee Shane Booysen, Chantal Riviere de Klerk and our chairman of judges Mr Craig Riviere.

We are very excited to welcome our international judge all the way from Slovenia Miss Anrika Matko Juvancic, says Bev Wood.

“The Battle of the Giants All-Styles Dance Sport Festival has been a popular event on Sun City’s entertainment annual calendar for three decades, with dancers and their supporters flocking to Sun City to be part of it. This year promises to be another exciting energetic and artistic showcase.
