Nonhle gets her groove on
Nonhle Thema is determined to shine on e.tv's Club 808.

The music show, which was previously co-hosted by Dineo Ranaka and Thando Thabethe, has moved back to e.tv following rumours of low ratings on OpenViewHD’s eKasi plus. Thema will be hosting the show with YFM DJ Mo Flava (Moeti Tsiki).
“I’m excited to be presenting a music show again. This is where it all began for me, so I feel like I have come full circle in my career,” Thema says.
Thema reached television stardom as a Channel O and V Entertainment presenter but left those platforms to pursue her own ventures.
“A lot has changed since I was on a music show. Many of the new artists I interviewed all those years ago are big stars now. I’m hoping to discover more new talent with Club 808,” she says.
Thema believes she has also changed since she was considered SA’s most popular “it girl”.

“I’ve grown up a lot. I’m more relaxed now than I was five years ago and I’m all about having fun. I don’t think I really took the time to enjoy my work. This time, I’m going to be calm and take in every moment.”
Thema and her ex-fiance also made headlines earlier this year when they broke up, with Thema being accused of being controlling, drinking too much and even using sangomas to try to kill him. Thema says she has put those experiences behind her and is determined to move on and focus on herself and her daughter, Star Phoenix Ivy Zime.
“I am a single mother and my daughter is the main focus in my life,” the presenter says.
Speaking on how she juggles her career and motherhood, Thema says, “I have a lot of help. My mother is also very supportive. Being a mother doesn’t mean you can stop working. In fact, it means you have to work even harder. Being a music show presenter means I am out and about in the evenings and I travel a lot, but I’m doing what I love. I stayed at home for a whole year after having my daughter and that was enough.”
Club 808 will return with a brand new look.

“We won’t just be standing there presenting. We will also be going out to events and mingling with our fans and – of course – taking a lot of selfies,” Thema says.
“It’s difficult to separate entertainment from social media these days, so we will be making the most of the trend. ”
Thema refuses to be compared to the show’s previous co-presenters, Thando Thabethe and Dineo Ranaka.
“What matters is that I am the new presenter and that is it,” she states.
Speaking on her relationship with her current colleague, DJ Mo Flava Thema says: “Mo is such a professional. Working with him is a breeze.”
