Somizi responds after followers link him to a new man

The former Idols SA judge has declared that he is 'not going there anytime soon', after fans romantically linked him to a new man.

Former Idols SA judge Somizi Mhlongo has shut down fan speculation that he already has a new man.

This after he posted pictures of himself alongside a good looking young man after a weekend out.

“Kasi vibes with my boi,” wrote Mhlongo in his caption.

The post received over 84,000 likes and amassed countless comments.

The following day, Mhlongo returned to the post to comment; “Bathong fam [please] rest [I] never said boyfriend I said boi…..yhu andizi there (I’m not going there) anytime soon.”

His declaration about “not going there” anytime soon comes amid his ongoing divorce from his estranged husband Mohale Motaung.

Motaung joined the cast of Living The Dream With Somizi back in 2018, and Somizi later proposed to him in Paris on the show.

Somizi paid Lobola to Mohale’s family in August 2019, and the couple kicked off their nuptials with a traditional wedding at Mohale’s family home in the spring of that year. This was followed by an engagement party in October.

A few months later, Somizi and Mohale tied the knot in a white wedding ceremony in Muldersdrift.

By late 2020, the couple was plagued by rumours of a split with various publications alleging that Mohale had moved out, and that Somizi and Mohale were now married on name only, but living separate lives.

Their divorce was confirmed after a damning audio clip was leaked featuring a chat between Motaung and former Living The Dream With Somizi executive producer Legend Manqele.

In addition to linking Mhlongo to the man he was pictured next to, fans lamented not seeing him on Idols SA over the weekend.

Mhlongo was removed from the show at the height of his drama with Motaung.

Idols SA has not yet announced a permanent replacement for Mhlongo, but has, however, opted to feature a new guest judge each episode for the rest of the season.

Mhlongo was also granted leave from his position as a Metro FM DJ on the station’s mid-morning show, The Bridge with Dineo Ranaka.

A few weeks ago, Mhlongo announced his return to Metro FM, only to not appear on air the next day.
