Will Babes Wodumo return for ‘Uthando Lodumo’?

Babes Wodumo and her late husband Mampintsha had a hit reality show on Showmax and its unclear if there will be a new season.

Earlier this week there were reports suggesting that Gqom star Babes Wodumo (Bongekile Simelane) is shooting the third season of her reality show with Showmax, Uthando Lodumo.

The first season of the controversial show aired in 2021, and gave an insight into Babe’s relationship with her family and her late husband Mampintsha (Mandla Maphumulo).

Uthando Lodumo was a three-part special that followed the couple’s days in the lead-up to their wedding, as well as the moment their respective circles find out that they are becoming parents. Because of the success of the special, the show would have a successful follow-up season.

Season three?

It was reported by Zimoja this week that Babes was in production for the third season.

Citing a source, they claimed that Babes Wodumo had signed a deal with streaming giant Showmax and the production started before Mampinthsa’s death and continued after.

The source further claimed the streaming platform is aware of Babes ratings pull and that the new season will be emotional.

“Babes is trying to secure her future especially after her husband died, she has a family to take care of including a small baby,” the source told Zimoja.

The Citizen reached out to Showmax for comment and it said “ they have nothing to announce at this stage”.

Last season

In last season’s finale, Babes Wodumo and her husband tackled allegations from an unnamed woman that Mampintsha had fathered a child outside of his marriage to Babes.

She also said that there had been some discrepancies in their finances that led her to wonder what he was doing with their money without consulting her.

“As his wife, I deserve to get all these answers,” she said during her diary session.

Her husband, ‘Mampintsha’ passed away on Christmas Eve last year, at just 40 years old, after suffering a mini-stroke.

Babes told her pastor, Bishop Dube, that he placed her business affairs under the control of a company that she did not know but added that she never signed any paperwork to sanction the move which makes what Mampintsha did fraudulently.
