‘Insert last laugh’ – Bonang celebrates the end of legal battle with CSA over House of BNG

CSA has released a statement confirming Bonang Matheba's full ownership of the House of BNG after a longstanding dispute.

Multi-award-winning media personality and businesswoman Bonang Matheba took to Twitter to celebrate the end of her legal battle with her former agency, Celebrity Services Africa (CSA), over her alcohol brand, House of BNG.

Last year, CSA manager Davin Phillips said the agency invested a lot of money in Bonang’s alcohol brand, but the media personality was enjoying the benefits alone.

“As mentioned previously, Ms Matheba is in fact the only individual who has made millions of rand of profit out of The House of BNG – while CSA is still at a loss and in the red after having invested millions in this venture to make it a success.

“Not only has CSA invested in this venture, but we have been significantly instrumental in developing and creating the brand, from the actual naming convention to the route to market, packaging, innovation (MCC, Prestige, and coming up with the concept of BNG Nectar – the sparkling wine in a can), the distribution strategy (in which we secured listings in key retailers), creation of the brand CI and the securing of all event partnerships.

The end

A few days ago, the agency released a statement seen by News24, announcing that they have settled their longstanding dispute with the TV star and no longer present her or any of her businesses.

“Celebrity Services Africa (Proprietary) Limited (CSA) and Bonang Matheba (Bonang), the owner of the House of BNG brand, have settled their longstanding dispute. CSA confirms that it has no claim to or financial interest in the business affairs of Bonang.

“Bonang Matheba Entertainment (Pty) Ltd, BNG South Africa (Pty) Ltd business entities or in the House of BNG brand and trademarks owned by Bonang Matheba. CSA confirms further that it no longer represents Bonang or any of these entities,” reads CSA’s statement.

Bonang also told the publication that she is happy that the battle is over and she can move forward peacefully.

‘Heist gone wrong’

To celebrate her victory, Bonang took to Twitter and posted a threat of tweets taking a swipe at the agency and people who she says wanted to believe so badly that she does not own House of BNG.

“They wanted to believe it, needed to believe it. So that the stories could reinforce the narrative they have already created in their minds,” she said in one tweet, adding that those people are now quiet.
