Boyce Lloyd leaving KWV has nothing to do with Anita’s TV antics

KWV confirmed to ‘The Citizen’ that Boyce was neither forced to resign nor forced to leave, and that the transition to appoint a new CEO started in July 2022 already.

Not long after KWV released a statement on Thursday morning, announcing that John Loomes would be replacing Boyce Lloyd as CEO at KWV effective 1 June 2023, all hell burst lose pointing fingers to Boyce’s wife Anita as the reason for this replacement.

Anita, who is one of the cast members of reality television show Die Real Housewives van die Wynlande has had tongues wagging since episode 1 of the television show aired.

Anita’s personality and ‘potty mouth’ has been one of the hottest topics in the streets of social media, and after only five episodes, the colourful housewife who never holds back and entertains in every episode is once again the trending topic on some platforms.

This time not because of what went down in Thursday night’s episode of Die Real Housewives van die Wynlande, but because she is being blamed as the reason for her husband being replaced at KWV.

Several reputable South African publications caused quite a stir on Thursday with their misleading headlines suggesting Anita is the reason for Boyce ‘losing his job’ as they stated it.

Boyce resigned as CEO in August 2022 already

The initial statement from KWV, on Thursday morning, clearly stated that: “Loomes has been serving as the CEO incumbent in a temporary COO role from September 2022, taking on responsibility for most functions and reporting lines. Since January 2023, Loomes’ responsibilities further expanded and has effectively been managing the business for the past 5 months, demonstrating his readiness to assume full accountability as CEO from 1 June.”

If you look at this timeline, Boyce resigned about 7 months before the first episode of Die Real Housewives van die Wynlande’ aired – long before South Africans met the delightful Anita Lloyd and her entertaining personality.

No circumstances of dismissal or forced resignation

The Citizen already reached out to KWV minutes after the initial press release was issued about Boyce’s replacement, knowing that misleading headlines were bound to follow.

KWV confirmed to The Citizen, late on Thursday, that Boyce Lloyd resigned from his position as CEO in August 2022, paving the way for the appointment of the incumbent CEO, John Loomes.

“It is important to clarify that there were no circumstances of dismissal or forced resignation involved in this transition. Mr Lloyd’s graciousness in staying on as the outgoing CEO ensured a seamless transition and smooth handover. KWV acknowledges and appreciates Mr Lloyd’s significant contributions to the company during his time with KWV,” the company said in a statement issued to The Citizen.

What’s next for Boyce and Anita?

There are still several episodes left of Die Real Housewives van die Wynlande which are guaranteed to keep Anita’s name on the tip of all the gossips’ tongues.

As for Boyce, The Citizen is still waiting for feedback on what he has planned after being at the helm of KWV for more than six years.
