Bujy Bikwa gets bail after weekend jail stay, ordered to stay away from Boity

Former Metro FM DJ Bujy Bikwa has been released on bail after spending a weekend in jail for allegedly assaulting media personality Boity Thulo.
Bikwa appeared in the Midrand Magistrates Court on Wednesday morning, after his initial bail application was postponed on Friday.
According to reports, he was released on R2,000 bail and has also been ordered to stay away from Thulo and not contact any of the witnesses who were present on the night.
Thulo was not present for proceedings.
The case comes after an alleged altercation between the two that turned violent, and saw Thulo sustain injuries to her face.
City Press reported that Bujy is facing charges of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm after the fight at a hotel in Waterfall, Midrand, last Thursday evening.
The pair were both in attendance at an event for a major tech company when Bikwa allegedly threw a liquor bottle at Thulo during an argument.
This resulted in injuries so serious that Thulo reportedly had to be taken to hospital in an ambulance.

Gauteng police spokesperson Mavela Masondo confirmed that Thulo had opened a case at Midrand Police Station on the night of the incident (Thursday).
At the time of writing, it was not yet clear what exactly the argument was about and Bikwa has not yet commented on the matter.
Thulo released a brief statement after news of the fight broke, but was scant on details about what transpired.
“It is with deep sadness to state that I was indeed an unfortunate victim of a vicious assault and that I have since opened a case against the culprit, which I am following with keen interest,” wrote Thulo
“I do not wish to comment on this matter any further. I respectfully request some space as I try to find a way to heal both physically and emotionally from this traumatic experience.
“I have faith in our criminal justice system and implore everyone to stand firmly against gender-based violence,” she concluded.
