Cassper is first black SA rapper to have two platinum albums

The rapper also became the first South African artist to fill the Coca-Cola Dome in October last year.


Cassper Nyovest is the first black SA rapper to have two platinum albums, according to Twitter page Africa Facts Zone. Taking to Twitter on Monday, Cassper says the reason he always come out on top is because he trusts in God and not himself.

“I rely on God to pull me through and he is Alpha and Omega,” he tweeted.

On Friday, he released his new single, Ayeye, which trended for most of the day, with most fans saying it was his best work. Cassper says his father also called him asking about his new release.

“My dad called me today asking me about This new song called Ayeye. The last time this happened and he was so hype was when I made Shebeleza,” he tweeted.

Not only is Cassper the only SA rapper to have two platinum albums but the rapper became the first South African artist to fill the Coca-Cola Dome in October last year. The rapper filled the 20 000-capacity venue, also his album Refiloe went gold on the same night.

This year, he plans to fill Orlando Stadium.

He revealed in an interview on Slikouronlife that it will cost him R25 million to fill up Orlando Stadium.

He further said he had been struggling to find sponsors but it seems that might be a problem of the past as he tweeted at MTN thanking them for their support. Whether they’ve come onboard with Fill Up Orlando Stadium remains t be known. Cassper tweeted:

Nkosinathi Maphumulo, known by his stage name Dl Black Coffee, is Africa’s most awarded Dj, according to the same Twitter page. Earlier this year, Coffee clinched four awards at the South African Music Awards for Best Dance Album, Best Engineered Album and Album of the Year for Pieces Of Me. Towards the end of the night, he took the International Achievement Award after going to the Coachella festival in the US and being nominated in the BET Awards’ Best International Act: Africa Awards.

Black Coffee became the first South African to win a BET Award in the Best International Act – Africa category.

In June, he was announced as a nominee in the Deep House category at the DJ Awards and will be going up against renowned Djs Duke Dumont, Sonny Fodera and Adam Port, among others. The annual awards, founded by Ibiza organiser Jose Pascual and Lenny Krarup, are set to take place on October 3 in Ibiza, Spain.
