DJ Sbu in trouble again over fake cover

Suspended Metro FM radio presenter, DJ Sbu, is in hot water again after Forbes Africa magazine released a statement in which it distanced itself from a fake cover circulating on social media.

Last week the DJ whose real name is Sibusiso Leope was suspended for unlawfully advertising his energy drink known as MoFaya during a recent Metro Awards live television broadcast. Now he faces possible legal action after he retweeted a fake cover of Forbes Africa, which features a picture of the entrepreneur and an endorsement of the locally manufactured energy drink.

Forbes Africa said it was made aware at the weekend of the fictitious cover being shared on social media.

The magazine said the cover was fabricated and that it “in no way” represents or endorses Leope or his energy drink. “We guard our cover jealously. People spend their whole lifetimes to get on that cover,” said Forbes Africa MD Chris Bishop.

Responding to the complaint on Talk Radio 702 last night DJ Sbu said: “I did not fabricate any cover! “I see images of myself on social media all the time. I am extremely disappointed in Forbes’ Chris Bishop for issuing that statement.

“I am extremely hungry; I don’t conform to the rules. “I saw the image, it’s brilliant, and I retweeted it,” the beleaguered DJ admitted during the radio interview.

The fake cover of Forbes Africa was last night still trending on social media. Bishop said he would take up the matter with his legal team.
