Hollywood actress Lupita Nyong’o dumps Hugh Masekela’s son, Selema
Since announcing the split, the actress has removed all of their images together on her social media. They were together for at least a year.

In a heartfelt lengthy statement, Hollywood actress Lupita Nyong’o confirmed her break-up with Selema Masekela, the son of world renowned muso, Hugh Masekela.
“I find myself in a season of heartbreak because of a love suddenly and devastatingly extinguished by deception. I am tempted to run into the shadows and hide, only to return to the light when I have regained my strength enough for me to say, ‘Whatever, my life is better this way’,” wrote Nyong’o on her Instagram.
“But I am reminded that the magnitude of the pain I am feeling is equal to the measure of my capacity for love. And so, I am choosing to face the pain, cultivating the courage to meet my life exactly as it is, and trusting that this too shall pass,” said the Black Panther actress.

Failed love
The pair is believed to have been together for at least a year, sharing images of themselves together on vacation on their social media pages.
“The promise, they say, is that a tender heart is what gives birth to fearlessness. I hope it’s true… I share this to keep it 100% and hoping that the knowledge of my experience might be useful to someone else out there experiencing the grip of heartbreak who is poised to try and escape from the pain and miss out on the wisdom that comes from it,” concluded Lupita statement.
Since confirming their split, the award winning actress has removed all images of herself with Selema. In January this year, on the day Hugh died, Lupita wrote a touching note to the late musician and also paying homage to his son, her lover.
“Remembering this great man today, Hugh Masekela. I am so glad our paths crossed and that I got to experience his magic in real life. His music lives on in us. And his light shines on in his son Selema. (And I am so grateful to bathe in it.),” she captioned a picture together with Hugh.
Born and bred in the US, Selema who is also known as ‘Sal’ in the States is the son of Hugh Masekela, conceived while the award winning legend was in exile in the US.
Outside of his family name, 52 year-old Selema has built a reputation for himself as TV host and sports commentator through his passion for surfing. He went to high school with US rapper Method Man from the Wu Tang Clan.
