Team JR, Cassper and Proverb make the news

Proverb has reportedly found love in the arms of one lovely lady, guess who?

We must admit, celebville has been very quite lately, but we’re glad, drama can be exhausting. However, there are some celebrities who just cannot run away from drama; if they don’t create it themselves, someone else will do it for them. There was so much happening over the weekend; as expected, celebville never sleeps, it’s their job to attend events and have fun while getting paid for it.

Twitter went crazy on Sunday night when Team JR on Clash of the Choirs were crowned the best choir for 2016. Most people were not surprised however, with musician iFani tweeting: “Team JR always brings the fire on stage”. People were also praising the team for its “great vibe” and “greatness”. Congratulations to Team JR, it was well-deserved.

Still on celebrating success, Radio and TV personality Lerato Kganyago reportedly beat 11 top celebrities to replace Pearl Thusi as Live Amp’s new presenter. The Sunday World reports that Lerato Moloi, Refilwe Modiselle and Thando Thabethe were among the celebrities who were vouching for the job. Congratulations to you Lerato, we look forward to watching you work your magic on our screens.

From what we hear, the Cape Town Jazz Music Festival seems to have gone well as it got people talking on Twitter. One person who made us jealous is Public Protector Thuli Madonsela who was rubbing shoulders with our crush Idris Elba. She did that and made sure we knew about it as she posted a picture posing right next to him! She tweeted:

Still on the Cape Town Jazz Festival, reports say Minister of Arts and Culture Nathi Mthethwa was booed off stage. He got trending on Twitter on Monday morning for this reason, with some making jokes about it. Guess we’ll have to wait for the memes, this is South Africa, anything is possible.

Coming to confirmed and rumoured hook ups; Club DJ and Metro FM music compiler Nutty is now a married man. The DJ, real name Nkosinathi Ntsele, married Bandile in KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday. Speaking to the Daily Sun, Nutty said he had been planning the wedding with his now wife for two years and was glad it had finally happened, pity it could not stop raining, however, the wedding did not stop! Among the guests were Robbie Malinga, Idols SA 2013 winner Musa and Linda  Moeketsi.

This one is rather interesting as after rumours of his separation from Onalerona, people got guessing who would be Proverb’s next queen.

After having news about his failed marriage and divorce splashed in the media for all to witness last year, Idols executive producer and rapper ProVerb seems to have apparently found love in the arms of former Miss SA Liesl Laurie.

According to the Sunday world ProVerb and Laurie were spotted holding hands in Rosebank Mall, Johannesburg recently. The paper also explains that these two have also been seen at a number of charity events together, looking clearly smitten with each other. Proverb has admitted to knowing Laurie, but denied dating rumours.

Drama of the weekend goes to Cassper Nyovest’s “daddy” drama involving Penny Penny and Cassper’s mother. Penny Penny, real name Eric Nkovani, confirmed to Drum magazine in February that he was Cassper’s daddy. This left Cassper’s mother fuming, according to the Sunday World. Cassper’s mother, Muzuki Phoolo, has reportedly demanding R1.5 million from Penny Penny and Drum for defamation. Cassper’s mother claims the magazine failed to verify the allegations with her even though Cassper denied them.

We will have to wait and see how the story unfolds.

What happened over the weekend that we left out?
