Why Cassper didn’t get a SAMA nomination

Twitter almost blew up on Thursday when the South African Music Awards nominees were announced with Cassper Nyovest not getting a nomination. His fans were up in arms questioning the nominees list. To make matters worse, Cassper’s rival AKA got two nominations, then went on Twitter and tweeted “Dololo”, which fans assumed was referring to Cassper not getting a single nomination.

However, Cassper knew his fans would get worried, so he also took to Twitter to explain why he was not nominated. He tweeted: “Thanks for all the love … pls note we deliberately did NOT submit for there awards. I’ll explain it all through my music. Stay blessed.”

Among the nominees were Fifi Cooper, Karen Zoid, Judith Sephuma, Zahara Zonke all gunning for Best Female Artist of the Year, Riky Rick, Emtee, Francois Van Coke, Nathi Mnkayi and DJ Black Coffee in the Best Male Artist of the year, with Nathi Mankayi, Black Coffee and Tresor in the Best Album of the year category.
