Mo Flava replaces DJ Fresh, makes way for Sphe and Naves on drive

He moves over with his team Pearl Shongwe on news, Owen Hannie on sports guru, and Moshe Ndike, who will join the team every Friday.

The speculation surrounding who would take over Metro FM’s Breakfast Show after DJ Fresh’s departure has finally been quelled with the South African Broadcasting Corporation’s (SABC) confirmation that on Monday, August 5, 2019, the station would put a whole new lineup into effect.

Former drive time host and longtime Metro FM employee Moeti “Moflava” Tsiki will spearhead the 5am-9am breakfast slot and his new show will be called “Morning Flava”.

The SABC said in a statement: “Morning Flava promises to keep listeners entertained, informed, and ready to tackle the day ahead. He moves over with his team Pearl Shongwe on news, Owen Hannie as the sports guru of the show and Moshe Ndike who will join the team every Friday.”

Taking over from Mo in the afternoon drive slot is a new show called “The Kings Suite” which will air between 3pm – 6pm.

“This new show sees the much-anticipated return of the duo, the Kings Of The Weekend (KOTW), Siphesihle ‘Sphectacula’ Ngwenya and Lebogang ‘DJ Naves’ Naves, who make their comeback to METRO FM after being away for the past two years,” added the SABC.

DJ Fresh’s former co-host, Relebogile Mabotja, will move to this slot as well, doing all the show’s news coverage, and will be joined by Angie Khumalo on sports duty.

These changes will not affect the rest of the daytime lineup, as all other shows will remain the same.
