Reclaiming the Legacy awards makes history in SA

South African indigenous gospel music has not been recognised much in a society that is often biased towards modern sounds of the genre.

Like in any music genres, local artists have always added a local touch in gospel music, thus giving it an indigenous and familiar flavour.

On the November 21, marginalised indigenous gospel artists will be celebrated at the Jabulani Theatre, in Soweto. Reclaiming The Legacy Clap ‘n Tap Awards, launched by the Rudijoe Media & Advertising, are meant recognise and celebrate the marginalised and traditional gospel genres, this year the awards focus on Clap ‘n Tap.

“This was achieved through Ezomoya, also produced by Rudijoe Media & Advertising. The popular gospel show, with over 2 million viewers, airs on Soweto TV every Sunday from 12pm-3pm.  I identified a niche market and tapped into it 7 years ago,” explains Rachel Moloi, founder of the awards.
