By Citizen Reporter

A number of brilliant young actors will this Friday at 6.30pm take to the stage at Arts on Main in Maboneng, Johannesburg, to showcase dazzling Shakespearan play Umsebenzi Ka Bra Shakes.

The showcase will be brought to you by the Center for the Less Good Idea and is directed by Hayleigh Evans and Phala O Phala, who are both revered theatre-makers.

The Center for the Less Good Idea was founded by renowned artist Mr William Kentridge.

The show’s organisers said in a statement: “As part of the centre’s For Once projects, Umsebenzi Ka Bra Shakes interrogates the use and relevance of Shakespeare, and indeed classic texts for South African performers, storytellers, makers, learners and audiences and explores Shakespeare within culture and language contexts, raising questions around violence, masculinity, and representation.”

Organisers promise extraordinary performances by Sibahle Mangena, Molatelo Maffa, Thulisile Nduvane, Aalliyah Matintela, Rachael Neary, S, Lwazi Mayeki, and Bongani Dlamini.
