‘Didn’t have to bastardise Dudu’s work like this’ – viewers respond to new episode teasers of ‘The Wife’
While the author had said that the show may be slightly different to the book, viewers are upset about just how far the storyline of 'The Wife' is straying from the book.

The trailer and snippets of the upcoming episodes of The Wife to be released for streaming tonight have been released on Showmax’s social media pages, and viewers of the show are flabbergasted by what is yet to come.
Before the telenovela began, Dudu Busani-Dube, the author of the original novels which the television show is based on, released a disclaimer stating the telenovela would be slightly different to the books, and that some events seen on the show would be different to the events that occur in the novels.
When fans of the novel watched the show, they knew not to expect a storyline which was exactly the same as the one they read in Hlomu: The Wife.
But taking to social media, fans have expressed that the storyline has gotten way out of hand and is nothing like what they had expected.

The snippet on the trailer that had viewers questioning the storyline of the telenovela was the scene which saw Hlomu having an extramarital affair with her husband Mqhele’s brother, Qhawe.
In the past episodes of the show, Qhawe has been the brother Hlomu trusted to share the problems which she is experiencing in her marriage with Mqhele.
In the novel, Hlomu only has an affair with her ex fiancé, Dr Sandile, but from the trailer for the upcoming episodes to be released tonight, Hlomu is seen having two different afairs.
Some viewers suspect the scene could be a dream which either Hlomu or Qhawe might have had, while others believe that Stained Glass, the production company of the show, has chosen to make Hlomu’s character very promiscuous.

It is not yet known whether the affair truly happens or not, but viewers will get the chance to find out once they have seen the new episodes of the telenovela.
Showmax has announced that the current season of The Wife will soon be coming to an end, but they have commissioned two extra seasons of the television series which will be based on the author’s other two novels which are under the same book series, called “Zandile: the Resolute”, and “Naledi: His Love”.
