Zhivago – Just what the doctor ordered

Finding the right course and distance is the tough task a trainer must go through. Zhivago has attempted most but with his last win coming over similar Zhivago could prove best by winning Race 7, The Gold Circle Witness KZN Summer Challenge Final over 1950m at Scottsville today.

Clearly the 2400m was too far for Zhivago in his latest so that run is best ignored.

This five-year-old was not disgraced in his two previous starts when finding Bold Inspiration too good for him in both, once on the Polytrack and the other on turf at Greyville.

Jockey Sean Cormack has done well aboard Zhivago and the Imperial Stride gelding is well drawn in stall No 2.

Against him though is Zhivago will be giving weight away to the whole field.

De La Danza has not won since May but has run numerous places so has to be considered for at least a minor place.

Innate Quality has not reproduced anything like the form of his runaway win at Greyville in July when jockey MJ Odendaal basically stole the race so is another who needs to improve to win but could place.

The Douglas Campbell-trained Kentucky Guest has taken to the Polytrack with some good recent form and has won on the turf a couple of times before so is going to prove dangerous in this.

Buck Shot and the Gavin van Zyl-trained pair Delamere and Billy Boy Blues will be getting weight so have to be respected.
