Rasta’s Meghan and Harry painting back in the limelight

Artist has gone on to paint late journalist Karima Brown and Precious Moloi-Motsepe.

Our beloved Rasta has once again taken it upon himself to create paintings of public figures.

This time the Duchess of Sussex, Duke of Sussex, late journalist Karima Brown and fashion entrepreneur Precious Moloi-Motsepe are the most recent unfortunate victims.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been making headlines across the globe this week following their interview with talk show host Oprah Winfrey which aired on CBS on Sunday evening.

The 43-year-old artist’s painting of Meghan and Harry that he had revealed on 15 February has made a comeback on social media following the interview and many Twitter users are left speechless.

The Twitter reveal was to congratulate the couple on the announcement of their second child.  The painting is a portrait of Meghan and Harry standing side by side.  A photo of the couple was the blueprint that Rasta used to create his painting.

The painter’s followers commented how they were unsure if Rasta’s work is genuine, or if he creates these paintings with the intention of being humorous or trivial. Some Twitter users are not pleased with Rasta’s insistence on painting well-known public figures.

Others love his paintings and believe they shed light amidst all the chaos. This painting, just like the others, looks nothing like the people it was intended to portray.

The artist created a painting of the late veteran journalist and commentator, Karima Brown, who passed away from Covid-19, as a tribute to her legacy as a “hard-core” journalist. Twitter users commented on the post, saying his paintings are “disrespectful” and a “crime”.

For International Women’s day, Rasta celebrated with a painting of fashion entrepreneur and philanthropist Precious Moloi-Motsepe. His followers were delighted to be given something to laugh about, saying the painter should give painting a “rest” and that he “does comedy through painting”.
