This is South Africa’s favourite and most searched for beauty brand…

According to cosmetic surgery education site Tajmeeli, Revlon is among South Africa's favourite (and most searched for) beauty brands.

As the year winds down, everyone is reflecting and while we may be stuck on what a gloomy festive season this is turning out to be, considering the constant rains, exorbitant petrol price and rising Covid-19 infection rates, some reflection can be good for the soul.

Not only does it put things into perspective but it also gives us a chance to rediscover some of the beauty in the year that was.

Ahead of the release of Google’s “Year in Search” results, cosmetic surgery education site Tajmeeli has analysed Google searches in 108 countries to establish the most-loved cosmetics brand for each.

According to Tajmeeli, they began their research with a seed list of popular beauty brands and used Google Trends to find out how popular each brand is worldwide, based on online search interest.

In their interpretation of the data, search interest is scored from 0 to 100, where 100 is the most popular.

“Taking the top spot in no less than 25 countries – almost a quarter of the 108 countries analyzed – is L’Oréal,” wrote Tajmeeli in a statement.

“Not only that but the cosmetics company was also crowned the overall favourite in three continents: Asia, Europe and South America.”

Affordable makeup brands such as CoverGirl, Maybelline and NYX also came out tops in regions such as North America and Australia and Oceania.

“Despite missing out on a top spot on a continent level, Maybelline and NYX take joint third place, each a favorite in six countries respectively.”

According to the platform, Hong Kong takes the title of beauty capital of the world after six brands tied for the top spot in that region

“Chanel, Shiseido, Estee Lauder, Nars, Clarins, Laura Mercier and Bobbi Brown are best liked in the country, each in equal measure.”

Canada’s e.l.f Cosmetics and playful brand, Too Faced took joint first place as the most in-demand cosmetic companies in the UK.
