SACBW Corporate Quest prize giving at Stoep a fun-filled event

"When you're having this much fun, time just flies," remarked Melany van der Merwe.

MBOMBELA – The South African Council for Business Women’s corporate quest took the city by storm last Friday.

This annual challenge offers businesswomen the opportunity to compete in a wide variety of tasks. Pit stops at various local businesses added some spice to the fun-filled day. Lowvelder was there when the day was concluded with a prize-giving and party at Stoep.

The quest, comprising 12 teams with four members each, kicked off at Road Lodge. The fun would last from 12:00 to 16:00, but participants said it felt like four minutes. “When you’re having this much fun, time just flies,” remarked Melany van der Merwe.

Teams had to complete various tasks at different businesses and document the completion of their tasks with photos. Charismatic chauffeurs drove participants around in courtesy vehicles provided by Ford. The day’s theme was “Into the future” and participants dressed accordingly, which boosted team spirit.

Organiser Annatjie Harmse was impressed by the high levels of energy that teams maintained throughout the day. “Events like these give local companies a boost in many ways. Apart from the exposure the pit-stop businesses gained, participants also enriched their communication and problem-solving skills. Existing friendships were strengthened and new ones made.”

A highlight was the auctioning of 12 handmade mascots. None of these received a bid of less than R100. R7 050 was raised for Little Miss Poise, a charity that provides underprivileged young girls with sanitary products.
