House robbery and theft of motor vehicle in Mbombela

The suspects loaded laptops, cellphones and a smartwatch into the victim's Toyota Fortuner, and disconnected the tracker before they drove off.

The Nelspruit police are investigating a case of house robbery and theft of a motor vehicle following an incident in Cosmos Street, Steiltes in Mbombela on September 30 at about 20:30. According to a provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdhluli, the complainant reported that had she driven into her home, parked in the garage and was taking her son out of the car when three suspects appeared out of nowhere.

“The suspects threatened her with a firearm, took the keys and closed the garage door. They took the complainant and her child into the house, tied her hands up and put tape over her mouth. The suspects packed laptops, cellphones and a smartwatch from the house into her vehicle. They also disconnected the car’s tracker before driving off in it,” he said.

No arrests have been made yet and the car has still not been recovered. Anyone with information may contact Detective Colonel Donald Mkhaliphi on 079 230 3126, or the victim on 082 307 1517/082 441 1988.
