Showjumping returns to Uplands

Course designer Paul Bester travelled from Gauteng to once again test our local showjumpers' skills

The Uplands Equestrian Centre hosted its first show since the start of lockdown in 2020.

The Uplands Merry March Showjumping was part of Uplands’ open day on March 6 and 7.

Level 1 lockdown regulations changed how sports events may be hosted, and the team were well-prepared to adhere to Covid-compliance regulations.

Course designer Paul Bester travelled from Gauteng to once again test our local showjumpers’ skills by designing tricky, but well-flowing courses.

Local showjumping judge, Tracy South, who recently returned from Cape Town, kept an eye on the competition and was pleased with the results.

The show’s number of entry-level riders excited MP Showjumping, proving there is growth in the sport, and the next generation of showjumpers are starting to exhibit their skills, with the more experienced riders taking the opportunity to get their horses around the 1,2-metre track successfully.

The Uplands Equestrian Centre delighted in prize-giving and would like to express gratitude to the sponsors, class sponsors and prize money sponsors, and to all riders and their respective support teams.
