Black Mamba sighted at Modikwa clinic
A Black Mamba paid a visit to the Modikwa Platinum Health clinic, looking for a quiet resting place, but scaring away most patients.

A unique visitor showed it’s scale at the Modikwa Platinum Health Clinic. On Tuesday 8 September about 15h10 one of the clinic employees spotted a black mamba approximately 1.5m “reporting for a medical” at the clients waiting area of the Occupational health .
The snake was slowly making his way to the opposite side of the waiting area in an attempt to get away from all the people that gathered on the opposite side to view the snake. Not at any stage was the snake aggressive or a thread to anybody’s safety as the clients was cleared from the system. The security was alerted and trained snake catchers was called to come and catch the snake as he was at that time hiding in a water trench.

The snakes are released at a safe place in the mountains where they are not a threat to humans and humans are not a threat to them. Living and working in the bush and close to nature a person can expect that at time humans and snakes can cross one another’s roads.
It is very important to remember that a snake is more afraid of humans than humans are to them and by acting calmly and by leaving a snake alone to get out of your way you can prevent being bitten by a snake.
Most snake bites are causes by untrained people who attempt to catch and handle a snake. Rather call out professional people to catch the snake or let him go on his way and soon he will be out of your area.
