Beauty attends special tea

Our local beauty proved once again that she never goes unnoticed and was chosen as one of the eight best-dressed women at the party in her dress by RonelJ.

LYDENBURG – Local beauty and avid supporter of charity projects Jeanette Kruger-Hibbens, recently rubbed shoulders with the rich and famous at Jacaranda FM’s second High Tea held at the Valmoré Hotel and Spa on July 31.

Jeanette, who is always lending a helping hand to the less fortunate, said she and Marcelle Bakker attended the event and was blown away by the openness and willingness of all present to make a difference in the lives of others.

“We have worked with the Jacaranda Good morning Angels before, on a project in Hoedspruit and attended the event because of that. It was an amazing and different experience, which is hard to describe if you haven’t been there.”

She said everyone went out of their way to make it a memorable experience. “The women who were there were beautifully dressed and the radio team really made an effort to thank all their loyal supporters.”

The newspaper asked her how it felt to be surrounded by hundreds of celebrities. “I have to admit it was a bit weird. Here I come from Lydenburg and all of a sudden I am surrounded by famous people. It felt quite good too,” she laughed.

But Jeanette was quick to point out that it wasn’t just fun and games. “It was emotional as well. You see the pictures behind the scene. You hear about the people who are helped by the programme on the radio, but here you see just how badly those people need help. You get to see the scene behind the scene.”

The Good Morning Angels high tea and golf day is a fund-raising initiative by Jacaranda FM.

Moe than 700 of Gauteng’s top business and media personalities joined Jacaranda FM to celebrate and further contribute to the station’s primary charity drive.

The Vintage High Tea was hosted by Complimentary Breakfast hosts and Good Morning Angels champions, Dianne Broodryk and Rian van Heerden, while colleagues Maljan and Thabiso Khambule hosted the popular golf day.

Highlights at the tea including star performers Bobby van Jaarsveld and Jacques Terre’blanche treating the crowds to rare swing performances, mixed with a few familiar favourites, as well as a surprise cameo melody by MC Rian van Heerden.

Celebrity auctioneer, Joey Burke got the crowds whipped up and purses opened by selling off various sponsored prizes including an Arthur Kaplan gift to the value of R22 000. To add to the day’s decadence Dianne surprised the crowd with a characteristic Oprah moment when she gave the entire tea crowd Annique goodie bags.

Celebrities in attendance included Lisa Bronner, Rikus Nel, Roeleen Strauss, Victor Matfield, Kevin Leo, Mathys Roets, Jakkie Louw, Melinda Bam, Adriaan Bergh, The Unlimited Titans and various others.

The 2014 edition proved the biggest GMA event yet, having raised more than R1 million, improving on the 2013 showing of R900 000. All the money was made from event tickets sales and auctioned items. The money will go back into the Good Morning Angels fund for next year.

Jeanette told the newspaper that she would definitely attend the next Jacaranda High Tea. “It was such an enriching experience. Your eyes really open up to the need of people countrywide.”
