The Marloth Park woman who died under mysterious circumstances on August 7 has been identified as Clarissa Johnson (46).

Mpumalanga police spokesperson Colonel Mavela Masondo confirmed her identity.

Preliminary information suggests Johnson tripped and fell down the steps in her house, banging her head on the floor. She went to bed and lay down, but later complained of a headache to her husband.

According to Masondo, Komatipoort police were called to the scene just after 03:00.

He said private emergency service personnel directed police to the main bedroom, where Johnson was found dead.

Paramedics declared her dead on the scene.

Police have registered an inquest docket for investigation.

“Police are still investigating an inquest while waiting for the post-mortem that will confirm the real cause of death,” said Masondo.

Ingwe Supermarket Marloth Park paid tribute to Johnson, describing her as a kind-hearted, strong woman and ‘a beautiful soul that will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.’
