Musician wants to heal souls and change lives

Mokgwadi told Steelburger/Lydenburg News that he recently performed in Maputo. "I have travelled to various neighbouring countries and some big cities in South Africa singing gospel. I want to continue doing the same in the coming years," he added.

STEELPOORT – The 22-year-old Potego Mokgwadi is gradually taking the gospel fraternity by storm. Born and bred in Tukakgomo, he and his soulful music have become the talk of the town.

Mokgwadi said he was bitten by the music bug five years ago while he was still busy with his studies at Kgahlanong Secondary School. “I sang in the school choir and that’s were I realised my talent. I aimed at healing souls with my music and also changing the lives of the youth.”

He recently released his debut album titled Mahlomola Pelo, of which the tracks have been played on various radio stations in the province, including the local Tubatse FM.

“I was surprised with how the album performed. During its first week it already sold 300 copies,” he said.

Mokgwadi told Steelburger/Lydenburg News that he recently performed in Maputo. “I have travelled to various neighbouring countries and some big cities in South Africa singing gospel. I want to continue doing the same in the coming years,” he added.

He said his music is aimed at combating drug and alcohol abuse in the Limpopo province.

Mokgwadi’s hit song “Mehleng Ya Bofelo” is popular among churchgoers and Christians. The talented artist thanked his co-singers, Donald Tshelane and Gerald Nzimande for his success.
