Fhilip ‘O studio launch a fabulous affair

He thanked his husband, Riaan, for his support and called him his rock.

MBOMBELA – Designer Fhilip’ O launched his studio at Sonpark on Saturday. Fashion fanatics, well-wishers and a few local VIPs were among those who celebrated his past successes and wished him the best in this new endeavour.

Fhilip Oosthuizen has been part of the local fashion scene for more than three years. However, it was during the last year that his creations have repeatedly landed him in the spotlight. After co-designing the exclusive XOXO designer men’s line, his Japanese-inspired line impressed greatly at the Casambo Fashion Affair last November. Earlier this year he was approached to design a couture gown for author and legal expert Adv Buyile Mdluli, which she wore to the State of the Province Address in February.

To Fhilip, having his own fashion studio has always been a dream. “In fact,” he said on Saturday, “I recall dreaming of this moment since I was a child.” Fhilip thanked his parents, Attie and Hannelie de Jager, for their continuous support.

He also thanked his brother, AJ and sister, Marietha. He described his husband, Riaan Oosthuizen, as his rock and said this milestone would not have been possible without the support of those who stood by him.

He extended his arms towards his seamstress, Doris Mhlanga, whom he thanked with a sincere: “nothing would have been possible without you”.

Local VIPs who showed their support to Fhilip’s new endeavour included songstress Natasha C, Advocate Mdluli, Suburb News’ Etienne Maré, Mdluli and designer Alex Asman. Fhilip welcomed current and future clients to his new immaculately decorated studio, where he hopes to design many couture items that the city of Mbombela will talk about for years to come.
