Burgersfort SAPS celebrate Child Protection Week with youngsters
"This campaign is to let them know that working together with the police can fight crime in their schools and homes. Children are very precious, they have to be treated with respect," explained Const Victoria Maluleka, coordinator of the event.
DRESDEN – Local SAPS visited Marakabele Primary School on June 2 to commemorate the National Child Protection Week.
“We aim to encourage learners and parents to break the silence and report criminal activities and abuse. I believe after this campaign, pupils will feel free to report crimes such as rape and abuse. We discovered that children are victims of rape by their relatives and that has to stop.

Celebrations were coupled with a series of sporting activities with local schools, one of which was athletics. The best runners were rewarded with medals and trophies. The best-performing school was Manoke’s Mafemane Primary, which scooped a trophy for its efforts. The SAPS members gave each participant a watch to remember the importance of this week.
