The meeting was friendly in nature, but the young athletes made sure to compete and fight tooth and nail for top prize.

Nelspruit Primary School is the latest of the Lowveld schools to host an exciting friendly athletics meeting in preparation for the upcoming Citybug Lowveld Interprimary.

Primary’s athletics fields were in tip-top shape when they welcomed six schools for the BUCO Friendly Athletics Meeting on Friday, January 30. The Lowveld sun was out in full force and it put the young athletes to the sword while they battled it out around the track and on the field.

While the meeting was called a friendly, the athletes certainly took it seriously, giving it their all in pursuit of the best possible result. Laerskool Barberton, Laerskool Bergland, Laerskool Graskop, Laerskool Laeveld, Laerskool Malelane and White River Primary School were all represented by hundreds of participants.

Some excellent athletics was put on show for the families that packed the pavilion in support of their little ones. One particular highlight of the day was the relays. As the sun began to set, energy and gees were high, spurring every sprinter on.

If this meet is anything to go by, the Citybug Lowveld Interprimary is going to be an event you surely don’t want to miss. It will to be hosted on February 14 by Laerskool Bergland at Hoërskool Nelspruit.
