LYDENBURG – Local police are investigating a case of armed robbery which allegedly occurred recently at the corners of Voortrekker and Johannes Coetser Street.
According to Capt. Saartjie Roos, Communications officer of Lydenburg SAPS, the robbery happened in the vicinity of Nedbank.
“Jeremia Vusi SEBEA (35) alleges that he was approached by two unknown males who pointed him with a firearm, robbed him of his cash and his Samsung cellphone and then fled the scene on foot.”
She said that no one has been arrested as yet. Roos urged anyone who can assist the police with their investigation to contact the Lydenburg SAPS on 013-2351311.
“The community is being warned to be very cautious when moving around town and especially near ATM’s. Be aware of your surroundings at all times as you are being watched when you are leaving ATM’s.
Make sure that you are not being followed when leaving the ATM. Immediately report suspicious characters lingering around,” Roos said.
