The day started with a five kilometre fun run and a 10 kilometre mountain bike race organized and managed by Run Walk For Life.

The festivities were well enjoyed by everyone including the visiting sportstars who in some instances stood in as “dads” for of the less fortunate youngsters. Eric Nilsson of Curro won the mountain bike race while local DA member, Willie Venter, showed his extraordinary fitness levels by running the trail run twice before jumping on his mountain bike to finish third in that event.

“I just do it for the fun really, its a great way to keep fit and it helps me to stay young,” Venter said.
